As part of a marketing gig to go along with a TSN broadcast, NASCAR Canadian Tire Series champ Scott Steckly’s #22 machine was stuck in a wind tunnel to show how important aerodynamics are and how a race car relates to a pickup truck.
The message in the video has been dumbed down a lot for mass market consumption so much that it isn’t even worth mentioning. What is worth talking about is the fact that this bit was shot in the world class wind tunnel at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.
Called the ACE Speed Lab, the facility at UOIT is regularly used by auto manufacturers thanks to its state of the art capabilities which include the ability to do rolling road testing at conditions that mimic desert heat or arctic cold all in the same day.
For the auto industry and students who want to get involved in automotive engineering, this facility is second to none anywhere on the planet.
