I know we are all pretty much fed up with Winter, but this is too cool not to share. We all know that the Ariel Atom is one of the quickest four wheeled track day toys available. What you might not know is that many snowmobiles are seriously fast also. Crazy fast.
The folks at ACE Performance, an Ariel distributor in Massachusetts, thought it might be fun to put a race prepped Atom to the test at a venue where it is somewhat out of its element: an icy airport landing strip. The competition: a Polaris 800 Rush Pro-S.
The stats are interesting, as the Ariel boasts 230 horsepower versus the Polaris’ 160. The sled’s light weight however evens things up with 0.371 hp per lb, a hefty advantage over the Atom at 0.175 hp per lb.
