By now you have likely heard about the Ontario guy who sunk his Audi S8 in Lake Simcoe when he drove on thin ice on a warm day, but that doesn’t mean that venturing out on the ice can’t be done safely. In fact, it can be good fun and in some places frozen lakes even become part of the local road system.
YouTuber Doug DeMuro visited a frozen lake in Vermont, where he ventured out on the ice in his Aston Martin to explore the joys of ice driving. Unlike that Audi driver, DeMuro had assistance from a local expert and even with assurances that the ice was safe, the guy was properly scared as he crept onto the frozen surface.
This is good fun to watch. If you are new to driving on ice, take note of DeMuro’s fear. That is how you should feel during your first time out.
