Canadian driving adventurer and Guinness World Record holder Garry Sowerby says that the setting a record really isn’t all that difficult. You just need to find something that nobody else has thought of or been crazy enough to try. Sounds simple I suppose, except that it isn’t.
Unless of course you are Swedish motorcycle racer Robert Gull, who recently set out to capture the record for the “Fastest motorcycle wheelie on ice”. Clearly, Gull fits the “crazy enough to try” category.
His weapon of choice was a bone stock 2011 BMW S1000RR, shod with studded tires that would most certainly julienne the rider if he came off. These demonic looking traction devices were carefully crafted by Gull’s Dad Anders.
On February 28, the rider and crew set out on a frozen lake near Årsunda, Sweden, where Gull turned in a record time of 207 km/h. On one wheel. Even more terrifying is knowing that his top speed was 226 km/h!
