One of the greatest things about watching vintage racing is the incredible diversity of vehicles in any given field. Sadly, for the drivers in the really fast machines, this sometimes also means that they run away from the pack and don’t really have any fun until they begin to lap the field.
Old race cars can be cantankerous, so often you will see some ex Trans Am car or the like starting from the back of the pack as the team struggled to fix a nagging problem. I have a suspicion that sometimes this is more about the driver having a bit of fun than it is any real mechanical issues.
I can’t say that this is what happened in this video from 2009, but Matt McGrath is clearly having the time of his life in his Ford Falcon XY GTHO at Bathurst.
Be sure to turn this one up loud!
