An Cleveland police officer was merging onto I90 on January 12, when a speeding Ford Explorer slid into a Crown Victoria. The officer’s dashboard mounted camera caught the incident, as the Explorer hit and climbed the barrier on the left before swerving to the right, across all lanes. As it swerved, the driver, 26 year old Edward Wallace, was ejected and tumbled along the highway before getting up and staggering back to his vehicle.
Police say that Wallace was traveling at about 70 mph in a 60 mph zone.
While it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to understand that wearing a seatbelt can keep you alive, many motorists still can’t be bothered. Wallace was very lucky to only receive a minor back injury and a bit of road rash on his face. The driver of the Crown Vic was treated for a concussion and back injuries. Wallace was charged with “wanton disregard for safety”.
Slow down and wear your seatbelt!
