Reports say that a mechanical failure caused the Renault driven by Augusto Scalbi during the TC 2000 in Argentina to leave the racing surface at more than 200 km/h. Once the car crossed a lump in the grass and the left side wheels dug in, all the driver could do was hold on and hope.
Scalbi is said to have lost consciousness following the crash but woke up at the scene. Not surprisingly, the driver also received a number of bruises.
