One of the most noticeable things about this year’s North American International Auto show was the lack of any real surprises. Sure, the Chrysler Pacifica was talked about a lot, but there wasn’t any real excitement. Until, that is, Toronto based auto journalist Brian Makse was shooting a video interview with Jeep CEO Mike Manley on Monday afternoon.
When the Hellcat Charger was introduced a year or so ago, FCA executives said that they could and would be stuffing the 707 horsepower V8 monster into several other models. Since that time, journalists and enthusiasts alike have been hounding company officials looking for confirmation of what the next Hellcat might be, many speculating that the Jeep Grand Cherokee was the next logical choice, but there has been no confirmation.
“One last question, I like to go fast, so my favourite Jeep is the SRT. Can you put a Hellcat motor into one of those for me?” asked Makse. Manley finally let the cat out of the bag so to speak, saying, “Not only can I put a Hellcat motor in one of those for you, I’m going to bring that to market before the end of 2017.” With a mischievous grin, Manley followed that up with “just for you”.
Hold on to your hats folks, this one is gonna be wild!
