Canadian Indycar star James Hinchcliffe is known for having a good time and not taking himself (or anyone else for that matter) too seriously, so it was no great surprise last year when he traded his nomex driving suit for one which looked a bit more ministerial last year.
In case you missed it, last year Hinch became a licensed minister through the American Marriage Ministries in order to oversee fellow racer Charlie Kimball’s wedding.
As you can see in the lead photo, Jimmy the Hinch has had somewhat of an epiphany in relation to his standing as a member of the clergy. The racer has realized that he is allowed to form his own religion. For a guy who built much of his original branding around a virtual community called Hinchtown, where he is Mayor, this actually makes total sense!
Some of the suggestions from his Twitter followers are fantastic, including:
The Order of Orthodox Oversteer.
The Church of the Late Apex.
The United Flap of Gurney.
The Church of Indyology.
Of course any church needs its its icons, so how about the Divine Saviour of Downforce or St. Hinch of Horsepower.
I’ll throw my hat into the ring and suggest Hinch-a-Farianism.
