The Tudor United SportsCar circus might be the headline event of this weekend’s Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix, but as exciting as those cars are, the real excitement is going to come from the Conti series. Loosely showroom based cars always provide fantastic racing, but the battle between the Chevy Camaros and the newly launched Ford GT-350 RC from Multimatic is going to be nothing short of epic.
The highlight car of the weekend has to be the GT-350 of Scott Maxwell and Billy Johnson, which is running the classic white and green livery of the legendary Comstock Racing. Comstock was in deep with Shelby back in the day, and that team’s Mustangs, Cobras and GT-40s all wore the colour scheme.
The Canadian team backed that heritage up with a solid performance in practice today, with Johnson laying down the fastest time of the second session, a 1:27.638, with Jade Buford just a few tenths back at 1:27.917.
