Most automotive journalists are lucky to spend more time than we should be allowed to driving on race track in other people’s cars. Believe it or not, as much as I love driving on a track however, it is the very rare opportunity to drive fast on a loose surface that truly gets me excited.
With that in mind, I was excited to watch this video from evo Magazine this morning, who sent their man Henry Catchpole to the famed Walters Arena motorsports complex in Wales. Catchpole’s goal was to compare different approaches to speed on gravel and the choice of vehicles has me drooling on my keyboard.
The presenter spent a day flogging a Polaris RZR side-by-side, a modern Ford Fiesta WRC, a vintage Porsche 911 with modern safari setup, A Bowler Defender (a pickup model no less!), and the newest model from Ariel, the Nomad.
This has the wheels spinning in my head for a story here in Driven Wheels!
