In the Seventies and Eighties, kit cars were all the rage. Crafty car fanatics bought body kits and dropped them onto VW Beetle floor pans, transforming the people’s car from an appliance into something exotic. It was great fun and many cool machines were created. In the same spirit comes Widow Sports Cars.
Located across the pond in Boreham Essex, Widow Sports Cars is a family run business that sell a body kit that turns the first generation Mazda Miata into a modern looking coupe or targa model. The panels can be bolted or bonded into place, replacing the existing outer body panels of your Miata donor car.
Because it is still a Miata under the skin, you already know that it is going to be fun to drive. Of course the performance upgrade possibilities for a Miata range from mild to wild, so a Widow SPR1 has the potential to be a really serious sports car. And yes, Widow has already stuffed a V8 into one!
U.K. pricing for the coupe body is £4500.00 while the targa is a touch more at £4700.00. They are working on making these kits available for the North American market.
