Canadian racer and friend of Driven Wheels, Joey McColm has announced that he would be adding the Trans Am series to his competition calendar for 2015. The Whitby, Ontario based driver is a fan favourite in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, who pays special attention to creating a special experience for race fans.
McColm and Canada’s Best Racing Team owner Bud Morris have decided to partner with Canadian chassis builder McColl Racing Enterprises to campaign the company’s first TA2 class car, a Ford Mustang.
The Trans Am series has made an effort to its roots as a multi-class series in recent years and has seen exponential improvement in both entries and fan base. It is a perfect series for CBRT and McColm to expand their efforts, both on and off track.
Team press release
TORONTO, On (Jan. 12, 2015) -Canada’s Best Racing Team (CBRT) and team owner, Bud Morris, have hinted at a number of exciting new opportunities for the 2015 season, and they haven’t fallen short on that promise. Just announced, the team will expand its NASCAR operations to the Trans Am TA2 Series in order to connect with fans in the United States, and continue to engage with their growing fan base in Canada.
Bringing decades of action-packed racing, the Trans Am series has experienced significant growth over the past few years, and now boasts that the TA2 series is the fastest growing class in road racing. This makes for the perfect time for CBRT to jump on board with the series.
“Our goal is to bring exciting new team ownership that will offer our drivers an opportunity to compete using top notch equipment in a highly competitive environment, and against the best teams and drivers in America,” says Joey McColm, Driver and General Manager of Canada’s Best Racing Team.
CBRT has partnered with McColl Racing Enterprises to prepare their first Ford Mustang TA2. With this partnership and expansion, the team looks forward to providing drivers with an opportunity to race in newly prepared race cars while represented by a team that is known for their reputation and ability to market and connect with racing fans across North America.
Sadly, the Trans Am Series does not have any Canadian dates in 2015, so fans will have to head south to see the CBRT TA2 car in action.
