Since about 1972, I have wanted a dune buggy. My Dad had a powder blue one and I remember swinging from the roll bar as we drove around the neighbourhood. I have no idea if it was a Meyers Manx or an Empi or some other backyard creation, but all that matters is that it stuck in my brain.
Like everyone else, I’m looking forward to warmer weather and getting a Summer driver ready. One of the ideas I have in mind is to perhaps trade my ugly brown Porsche 944 for a Baja Bug or more likely, a dune buggy. This got me searching for some fun Manx content on Youtube to brighten my Friday afternoon and I discovered that the Father of the dune buggy, Bruce Meyers, visited Jay Leno in the Big Dog Garage last Fall.
Now 89 years young, Meyers explains a bit about the history of the cars that bear his name, before he and Leno head out for a drive in the very first Myers Manx.
