The 370Z is the latest in a long history of Nissan’s iconic Z line of sports cars and is arguably one of the coolest coupes on the market today. Sadly, the latest iteration of the Zed hasn’t been the successful seller that many thought it would be, at least here in the Canadian market.
Most critics have pointed to a too high price point as the reason behind the car’s failure to set showrooms on fire. Nissan Canada has heard the message and for 2016 have created an Enthusiast Edition that can be had for $29,998. That is an incredible $10,000 decrease from the 2015 model’s base price!
Don’t consider this one a stripper however, as it includes a range of equipment that modern sports car buyers want, including “black-finished 18-inch styled alloy wheels, bi-functional Xenon headlights; automatic temperature control; black woven carbon seat cloth; independent double wishbone front, multi-link rear, sport tuned suspension, Bluetooth® Hands-Free phone system and USB connectivity.”
That price point puts it just a couple of grand north of the Subaru BRZ and within a few hundred bucks of the Hyundai Genesis Coupe. Depending on equipment, the Ford Mustang is in the same ballpark too.
All of this means that Nissan has taken the 370Z and packaged it in a way that will appeal to a broader range of bank accounts that it could previously. One might suspect that we’ll begin to see the Enthusiast Edition on streets and at driving events very quickly!
