The past few days have brought exciting news for motorsport fans, along with North Americans who have been pining for a real Ford RS on this continent.
Toyota to return to WRC competition
First up was Toyota who while announcing their 2015 motorsport plans, dropped the little nugget that they are finally returning to the WRC circuit with a the tiny Yaris as their platform of choice. Toyota has been working on a rally prepped Yaris for some time now, so the news isn’t a complete surprise, however it is nice to have a definite date now.
During the Super Bowl, Nissan surprised just about everyone with the next that they will be returning to Le Mans, with a completely new machine, in 2016. The completely insane looking GT-R LM breaks the mould not only visually, but by being a front wheel drive race car. Thankfully, it does not appear to be even remotely related to the Delta Wang.
Early this morning, Ford showed off the next generation Focus RS, which will FINALLY be available in North America! Set to become the hottest hatch of all time, the blue beastie boasts 320 horsepower, all wheel drive and a six speed manual transmission. Yes, a MANUAL transmission!
