The engine swap is nothing new. A tiny British sports car stuffed full of Ford V8 became one of the most iconic cars of all time. We have seen Honda powered Minis, rotary powered Spridgets and V8 powered Miatas. Heck, we’ve seen V8s stuffed into just about everything, but none of them holds a candle to the insanity of stuffing a WWII tank engine into a Rover.
Fifth Gear recently posted this video that originally aired back in 2011 that features a Rover SD1 that has been stuffed full of a 27L V-12 that originally resided in a tank. If the engine sounds familiar, it is because it is closely related to the Merlin engine that powered the mighty Supermarine Spitfire.
This thing is simply crazy.
