The annual run up Lord March’s driveway has become a bucket list trip for some, an annual pilgrimage for others, thanks to the sheer audacity of flinging incredible machines up a wildly unsafe stretch of tarmac. Spectators can get up close with some of the most significant racing cars ever built and brush shoulders with the legends that drove them.
British and European fans love nothing more than to see outrageous American racing cars on the estate and this year, there will be more content from the Colonies than ever. Michael Waltrip Racing and Richard Childress Racing will have NASCAR iron on hand. Richard Petty will run up the hill in a historic Plymouth Superbird and “Big Daddy” Don Garlits is bringing out Swamp Rat one for a display.
Also making the trip will be Robby Gordon’s high flying Stadium Super Trucks. One can assume that these boys will run last, as there isn’t likely to be too much left of the course after the trucks are done shredding!
I was fortunate to visit the FOS in 2012 with the folks from Audi Canada. It was a bucket list event for me, one that lived up to its reputation in every way.
