As one of the co-chairman of the Canadian Car of the Year awards, I unfortunately don’t have time during the Testfest event to actually vote. That doesn’t mean however that I don’t have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of some of the most exciting new vehicles on the market. Here are my thoughts on the vehicles I drove.
The baby of our bunch of SUV/CUV competitors, the CX-3 garnered a lot of fans thanks to its cute looks and zippy performance, worthy of the brand's Zoom-Zoom tag line. I only had the opportunity to drive the CX-3 on our off road course, which was designed to replicate the extremes of a cottage road in Spring time. With little ground clearance and all season tires, the CX-3 is no off roader, but it accepts the challenge with pleasure. It is like a puppy that wants to please its new parents. My only complaint about this entry is the absence of a manual transmission option. If Mazda were to add that feature, a CX-3 might just become part of our fleet.
